As one the strategies to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 global pandemic, the Federal Government of Nigeria imposed a lockdown which resulted in severe economic hardship to many households in the country.
In response to this economic hardship, MKD Araoye Foundation organized a palliative Relief Program which took place on the 8th and 9th of May 2020 as part of the Foundation’s effort to mitigate this hardship. Relief packages containing cash and food items were distributed to 5000 beneficiaries drawn from the 32 wards within Ekiti South-West Local Government Area, Ikere Local Government Area and Ise-Orun Local Government Area, respectively. These relief packages were all hand-delivered to the beneficiaries in their respective households without discrimination from a list drawn up by community leaders reflecting the vulnerable families. Each beneficiary was given a package of Rice, Beans, Garri and Cash.
